Google has already announced its latest operating system Android N at the recent I/O 2016 developer's conference.

The new firmware is expected to be released in the next few months, and now, the question is whether Samsung Galaxy will be able to roll out Android 6.0 

Marshmallow update to its mid-range and high-end devices before Android N arrives.

The South Korean electronics giant was slow in seeding Android Marshmallow update to its devices compared to its counterparts like HTC Mobiles, 

Motorola Mobiles and LG Mobiles but several of its flagship devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 4 have received it.

However, the Galaxy A9 is Samsung's only non-flagship device that has received the firmware so far. 

The Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) versions for the US and a few regions in South Korea run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, but those released in China still run Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Some of the devices that are expected to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016), Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J3 (2016), Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy Tab S2.

The Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) handsets released in Chinese market should get the firmware update soon, as those released in other markets come running the OS. 

The Galaxy A8 has reportedly received Wi-Fi certification, so it should receive the software soon.

Interestingly, Phone Arena has quoted Google VP of engineering Dave Burke as saying that the Android N would be released later this summer. 

So, it wouldn't come as surprise if the new firmware is released before Samsung could seed Android Marshmallow update to its eligible devices.

There are reports doing the rounds that Samsung may release Android N update to its devices like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and Galaxy Note 5 in the fourth quarter of this year.

The yet-to-be-released operating system comes with features like multi-window, direct reply notifications, Google Assistant, Clear All, Improved file browser, VR interface, bundled notifications, Data saver, Extra power efficiency and improved Java 8 language support.
